Tips on M14(M1A™) & M1 Garand
NM Rear Sights

These sights are adjustable for 1/2 minute changes in both windage and elevation.  While each click of the windage knob will produce a 1/2 minute change in windage, each click of the elevation knob produces a 1 minute change in elevation.  To obtain 1/2 minute change in elevation the hooded eyepiece must be rotated 180º.  The peephole in the eyepiece is located off center to accomplish this.  The notch on the hood indicates what position (up or down) the peephole is.

*Rotate notch up to raise bullet impact 1/2 minute.

*Rotate notch down to lower bullet impact 1/2 minute.

*To raise bullet impact 1/2 minute with notch in up position add 1 click of elevation and rotate notch down.

*A minute = approx. 1" at 100 yards, 2" at 200 yards, etc.

NM Rear Sight Aperture

National Match Apertures come in two (2) sizes.  The standard size is 0.0595" while 0.0520" is optional.  The smaller aperture lets less light through.  Peephole size is normally marked on the top of the hood.
