On-Line Firearm Sales Policy-

Note the following relates to individual sales only, FFL’s are excluded.

Tank’s Rifle Shop LLC enforces a strict Firearm Sales Policy and follows closely guidelines as suggested by the NSSF.

Contrary to the media portrayal and some of our elected political officials you cannot just purchase a firearm off the internet and have it shipped to you legally. Ultimately unless you are involved in an illegal purchase you are going to need to go through an FFL and fill out a Form 4473, along with a background check and comply with your State and local firearm laws.

To ensure the sale is proper and eliminate any attempt at Straw purchases, Tank’s requires specific verification of the purchaser when it is an individual to finalize the sale. Failure to properly verify the purchaser will result in cancellation of the sale.

So, what is a Straw Purchase? It’s buying a firearm for someone who is prohibited by law from possessing one or for someone who does not want his or her name associated with the transaction.

  • An illegal firearm purchase (straw purchase) is a federal crime.
  • An illegal firearm purchase can bring a felony conviction sentence of ten years in jail and a fine of up to $250,000.
  • Never buy a gun for someone who is unwilling or unable to do so.
  • Whatever you do, Don’t Lie for the Other Guy!

A few things to remember or be aware of before starting the purchasing process.

  • Federal law requires you to be at least 18 years old to purchase a rifle or shotgun and at least 21 years old for a handgun, non-rifle/shotgun or frame/receiver. Be sure your State or locale has not passed any laws increasing the age limit from 18 to 21.
  • You as the buyer are responsible for knowing the firearm laws for your State to ensure compliance. So don’t order something that you can’t legally possess in your State or locale. If you have any questions, ask the FFL you will be using for the transfer.
  • Firearms will only be shipped to an FFL in the buyers State of residence, active-duty military exempted with PCS orders.
  • No sales to California. We are not registered with CA DOJ to ship firearms into California.
  • No sales to District of Columbia (Washington DC)
  • No sales to Massachusetts

Upon a customer making a purchase of a firearm or frame/receiver, the customer will be required to provide us with the Name and contact info for the FFL that they want the firearm or frame/receiver transferred to. We will contact the FFL, request a copy of their license and then ship the firearm or frame/receiver. All the customers information will be provided to the receiving FFL so they will be able to verify that the individual picking up the firearm or frame/receiver is the same one who purchased it from us.
