| *The forcing cone is that point in the barrel where the chamber diameter reduces to bore diameter. On factory barrels this taper is very short though on newer barrels it has been lengthened somewhat. Shot is deformed as it passes through this taper due to the sudden transition. When the forcing cone is optimally lengthened the shot is not deformed as much. Patterns and performance are improved by usually 15-20%.
